Most small business owners know that they should be using automation, but 80% of the time, fear gets in the way of trying.
From my experience, there are two kinds of fears: the fear of not knowing what to do and the fear of how much automation is going to cost.
It's actually good to be fearful. That means you're going to pay attention to make sure everything works, be attentive when stuff breaks, and make sure you aren’t spending unnecessary money for systems that you don’t really need.
This is exactly why I developed the Five-Step FOCUS Roadmap. I wanted to provide business owners with a toolbox to help them figure out what they would benefit from automating first, and then teach them how to implement that plan.
While the roadmap is a great tool, some business owners are still overwhelmed and unsure of what can and can’t be automated. I get it. There are so many systems, platforms, and businesses that preach the right and wrong way to do things. It’s overwhelming.
Here are 3 simple steps you can take to start automating your business:
Start by automating something that affects both your personal life and your business life, such as your calendar, your email inbox, to be exact. This will help you practice putting systems in place, AND you can see how awesome automation can be.

Then, move to something business specific, but start with something small that is non-customer facing. This way, if something breaks, it’s not something that directly impacts your customers.
PRO TIP: Some non-customer facing ideas can include payroll/invoicing.
If you’re STILL feeling frustrated or overwhelmed, then outsourcing is a fantastic system. Find a digital marketing assistant if you aren't comfortable doing it yourself. You can pay someone for 5-10 hours/month to take some of that stuff off your plate. You can have them TEACH you, or you can find someone to just do it FOR YOU.
PRO TIP: We do that! 😉
If you’re an automation guru (or you’re already learning the ropes in our Facebook group), then you probably don’t need the tips in this email this week. BUT, maybe you know a friend who falls into the “scared to automate” category. Forward them this email to give them the push they need to get started!
