It’s no secret that we live in the digital age.
Almost everyone has a smartphone in their hand at all times, and 85% of those people have at least one (if not more) social media apps on their phone.
With social media being insanely popular, there’s no reason for business owners not to take advantage of this free marketing tool. But social media isn’t just a place to post and cross your fingers.
A well-developed social strategy is critical to success in this corner of the internet.
While a social strategy takes time to develop (and following it takes time), it’s well worth it. An excellent social strategy accounts for your brand, your products/services, your audience, and YOU as the business owner.
A thought-out combination of all these things is a surefire way to connect with your audience across social platforms.
Here are 4 things to consider when developing (or tweaking) your own social strategy:
Be consistent, yet realistic.
Quality content and consistency are more important than the amount of content you post. If you don’t have time to post five days per week, start with three. Figure out what you can stick with, and go for it.
PRO TIP: Create 2-4 weeks of content at a time, and schedule them out so you don’t need to think about it.
Focus on what’s important.
Create content pillars. Consider what’s valuable to your audience (strictly focusing on sales posts isn’t a strategy…). This is a great time for thought leadership. Make it clear that you’re an expert in your field without actually saying that.
Watch your analytics.
Take time each month to see what’s performing well and what’s not. Tweak your content from there to give your audience more of what they want to see.
Carve out time for engagement.
Respond to comments and DMs, and show up in the comments of your target audience. Doing this DAILY will make your posts more visible to your audience. The algorithm (and your audience) needs to know you’re an actual person, not a bot!
