Entrepreneurial burnout is so freaking real.
In fact, 80% of entrepreneurs face burnout at some point in their careers. (And I swear the other 20% are unicorns.)
Between the long hours, the financial stress, and the constant need to hold everything together, it’s not surprising that so many business owners are exhausted, burnt out, and just going through the motions.
That’s exactly why I’ve changed my philosophy.
There is no such thing as “work-life” balance. It’s all just life, and we need balance in our life.
Finding balance is VERY hard work. Trust me. I get it. It took me years to figure it out, and some weeks that balance still isn’t there. But I’m making progress.
Balance looks different for everyone, so finding what works for you is key.
Here are three ways I’ve developed balance in my life as an entrepreneur:
Build your schedule around a four-day workweek (and don’t work weekends).
Giving yourself an extra day each weekend to disconnect and recharge is a game changer. In order to have a four-day workweek, you’re going to need to come to terms with the fact that there will always be something to do, but taking time for yourself is also a priority. My advice? Just commit to it and hold yourself accountable.
Automate repetitive tasks.
When you automate repetitive tasks, you can spend less time working on the small stuff and more time on the big-picture stuff. Plus, when done properly, automation can give you 10-15 hours back in your week. Need I say more?
Track and measure EVERYTHING.
Track and measure all your systems, and then actually LOOK at the data. This will tell you where you should spend your time and money and where you’re wasting it.
Speaking of life balance, I’m actually on vacation this week. I’ve scheduled this email ahead of time, so I don’t need to worry about it while I’m enjoying time with my family.
Because I’m out of town, my normal noon CT Facebook Live will be pre-recorded. Take a moment today to check it out, and then take some time to restructure your business to set you up for a work-life balance success.
