It’s no secret that customers are essential to the success of your business.
Finding new customers can be expensive. Running ads, following up on leads, and closing the sale can take a toll on your time and money.
On the other hand, keeping your current customers can be much easier. You’ve already attracted them and closed the sale once. Now you just have to keep them coming back to you.
This is where a kick ass customer loyalty program comes into play.
Your customers want to feel appreciated.
They want to feel like their business matters to you. And better yet, they want to feel rewarded for sticking with your brand instead of checking out what your competitors have to offer.
Creating a loyalty program that makes keeps your customers coming back for more doesn’t have to be hard or expensive.
In fact, you can create a simple points based loyalty program in just four steps:
Create a simple database spreadsheet (we use airtable) to capture your customers information and keep track of the points they will rack up. (Just in case you don’t remember how to do this, we created a video on how to capture this information - reach out if your interested in watching the replay)
Start tracking these 5 basic engagement actions:
Email Signup (when they sign up for your newsletter or mailing list)
SMS Signup (when they sign up to receive text messages)
Birthday (When they give you their birthday)
Referrals (When they refer you to a friend, and their friend signs up)
Social engagement (Likes, comments, shares, loyalty badges…etc)
Assign points for each action:
Email capture - 5 points
SMS Signup - 5 points
Birthday - 10 points
Referrals - 25 points
Social Engagement (Base this on the size of the engagement, comments and shares get more points because the actions are more valued)
Use the database’s formula function to automatically add up the points each time a new action is taken.
PRO TIP: Your customers should NOT have to take extra steps to opt into a special program. Make sure they are automatically added to the list when they subscribe. If they have to take further steps to enroll, many of them won’t do it.
And that’s it! Now you have a program that incentivizes your customers to stick with your brand. They won’t even be tempted to check out what other brands have to offer.
