In the fast-paced world of professional networking, your LinkedIn profile is often the first impression you make on potential connections, employers, or collaborators.
I was scrolling LinkedIn from my phone last week, and I noticed that 95% of my connections don’t have a mobile-optimized banner.
Every regular LinkedIn user knows how valuable that real estate is. But why is the mobile optimization is so important?
Here’s why: 43.1% of LinkedIn users are mobile. While that’s not an earth-shattering percentage, let’s do some math. LinkedIn has 310 million monthly active users, and 43% of that is 133,300,000.
That means 133,300,000 potential people are seeing that (not optimized) banner.
If it’s not optimized, that means important information is being cut off by your profile picture, and honestly, it just looks kind of sloppy. (And I’ll be first to admit that my banner wasn’t mobile optimized either…but I can assure you it is now!)
Here are 3 steps to take to ensure your banner is optimized for mobile on the LinkedIn App:
Create a custom document in Canva (or any design tool you choose) that is 2000 pixels wide and 600 pixels tall.
Set a horizontal guide at 860 pixels from the left.
Make sure all your content is placed on the right side of that guide and all your text is centered vertically in the content area.
That’s it! Take 10 minutes today to triple-check your banner and tweak it to be optimized for mobile. Let those 133,300,000 monthly mobile users see ALL of your awesomeness!
