As we dive into 2024, let's make it a year of increased productivity, less stress, and substantial personal and professional growth.
But how? We’re going to master the art of time management!
Time management is not just about watching the clock.
It's a strategic approach to both work and life.
Whether you're juggling a demanding job, personal commitments, or striving for personal growth, effective time management can be the magic dust that gives you your sanity back this year.
When I tell you I’ve tried ALLLLL the time management things, I mean it.
I’m a business owner, I’m a mom of four (and three of those four are teenage boys), and I have ADHD. I’ve been testing and trying time management strategies for years.
Here are the top strategies that have been effective for helping me manage work, life, and all the things:
Track Your Time
Before you can figure out how to manage your time better, you need to know where you’re spending that time. I like to use an automatic program, like Clockify, to run in the background and report where I’m spending the most time during my day or week.
Batch Your Tasks.
Group your tasks by similarity, then structure your day by those groups. If your brain works better in the morning, do your big tasks then. If it works better in the afternoon, then structure your day that way. This helps in avoiding multitasking and ensures dedicated focus on each task.
Delegate.
Take a look at what you spend the most time on weekly, then determine which of those things can be outsourced. Delegation frees up your time to focus on high-priority activities that require your unique skills and expertise. Remember, even if you’re doing them yourself, it’s still costing you time…and time is money.
Eliminate Distractions.
Identify and minimize distractions, whether they are physical, digital, or environmental. This could include turning off notifications, finding a quiet workspace, or using website blockers.
Remember, this isn’t a one-size-fits-all thing. Try new strategies until you find one that feels good for YOU!
I’m going to be live in my Facebook group at noon CT today to talk about all things time management. Grab your lunch and join me!
