Navigating the world with ADHD is a struggle.
And owning a business with ADHD is even harder.
I was diagnosed with ADHD at 16, and I’ll be honest: my high school years were a disaster.
I had no idea how to manage the signs and symptoms, so I just didn’t.
But when I became an adult, everything changed.
I realized I needed to figure out how to manage my ADHD so I could be productive.
Then I started my business and I really had to kick myself into gear, because no one was there to make sure I was getting stuff done.
So after lots of trial and error, I’m sharing my secrets.
Here are my top tips and strategies for managing ADHD as a business owner:
Lofi Music
Instrumental music increases my focus instantly. I just play it at a low volume while I work.
Utilize Focus Mode
Focus Mode on my iPhone is a lifesaver. No more useless notifications distracting me from my work.
Outsource When Needed
You know your strengths and weaknesses. Outsourcing those tasks that drag you down can be so freeing for your mind.
Don’t Fight The Scatterbrain
If you’re having a scatterbrain day, don’t fight it. Take a few hours off, go for a walk, or do something that distracts your mind. You’ll come back refreshed and ready to focus.
ADHD isn’t a one-size-fits-all diagnosis. Give these tips a try and see what works for you!
