Why Too Much Focus on UX Can Hurt Your Business
3 things you don't need to worry about right now
User Experience is crucial to the success of any digital product or service.
A well-designed interface can mean the difference between a frustrated user and a loyal customer.
However, there's a growing trend that I’ve noticed in the industry—a trend of hyper-focusing on UX to the point where other essential aspects of business are hurt in the process.
When we overemphasis UX, we can run into problems.
These problems include: cost overruns, over-complications, neglect of core goals and values, focus on trends over functionality, and more.
Here are three things you don’t need to stress about right now:
Endless Testing
While testing is important, there’s such a thing as too much. Continuous user testing can lead to analysis paralysis. Sometimes, you just need to trust your instincts and go with what feels right.
Fancy Animations and Microinteractions
They might look cool, but they can also slow down your site and frustrate users with slower connections. Prioritize speed and simplicity over flashy design elements.
Perfection
Not every user will take the same path through your site or app, and that’s okay. Trying to perfect every possible journey can lead to over-complication. Focus on the main flows and make sure they work smoothly.
Cross these things off your stress list, and focus on the big picture items that bring in money.
